Rhodes
The city of Rhodes, located northeast of Crete, southeast of Athens, was an ancient Greek city and the associated island group's historical capital. This city has an incredibly rich history and was at times independent but also part of many great historical empires.
Most famously, during the classical era, they were known both for their incredible naval prowess, inspiring the quote: "If we have ten Rhodians, we have ten ships", but also the incredible Colossus of Rhodes, which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
